Project Description
The ITaCS SharePoint Post Installation Tool (PIT) automates the most common post installation tasks on a WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007 server.

It's written in C# as a Windows Forms Application and relies on SharePoint's system requirements (e.g. .NET Framework 3.0)


Features

SharePoint configuration changes
  • Enabling display of file extensions in document libraries
  • Registration of file extensions and icons (file types/icons customizable)
  • Addition of quota templates 1/2/5GB
  • Change trace log location
  • Enable usage analysis logging and processing
  • Compress logfile folders

Operating system configuration changes
  • Adding "12-Hive" to the systems PATH environment variable and/or a user's environment variable
  • Disable Loopback Check
  • Grant DCOM permission to SharePoint worker process groups

IIS configuration changes
  • Change the logfile's location for IIS and SMTP
  • Compress logfile folders
  • Change the SMTP Mailroot directory

Office Search configuration changes
  • Registration of additional file types with default Shared Services Provider
  • Register additional IFilters (filters customizable)
  • Change the search crawler's download limit

System Requirements

  • Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2
  • local WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007 Installation
  • local IIS 6, 7 or 7.5
  • .NET Framework 3.0
